Successe al padre mwcqCostantino Corneu alla metà del mwcgV secolo sul trono del regno mwcwbritannico mwdaaltomedioevale della mwdqDumnonia (nella mwdgCornovaglia, regione dell'odierna mwdwInghilterra). Morì attorno al mwea480cite-ref-ebk-1-0[1].

Nel mwfgmwfwMabinogion è presentato come un vecchio sovrano messo continuamente sotto pressione dagli attacchi portati dai nemici al suo regno. Richiamò il figlio dalla corte di mwgare Artù per aiutarlo a imporre di nuovo il potere dumnone e abdicò in suo favorecite-ref-ebk-1-1[1]. In mwhqmwhgCulhwch e Olwen è indicato come il padre di Dywel, Ermid e mwhwGeraint, e nelle genealogie dei re dumnoni è succeduto da mwiaGerren Llyngesoc.

Fu probabilmente il fondatore della chiesa di Sant'Ervan in mwigCornovaglia. Gli antichi calendari gallesi lo commemorano come santo il mwiw13 gennaio o il mwja29 maggio.
